RECOVERY EFFORTS FOR CORPS PANAMA CITY OFFICE UNDERWAY

MOBILE, Alabama – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District is deploying office trailers and generators to its Panama City, Fla. project office that was damaged by Hurricane Michael in on Oct. 13, 2018.

USACE is deploying office trailers from its Lake Allatoona project in North Georgia and generators from its Black Water Tombigbee Alabama River Lakes office in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The current plan is to have the trailer and generator in place by Sunday with installation to start on Monday. USACE will also have a definitive plan in place along with its construction contractor, Carter’s Construction Company, to repair the existing Panama City office.

“We have a good plan underway under the leadership of Bubba Poiroux and Waylon Register to get the office back up and running in record time,” said William Fuller, Chief Operations Division. “We have office trailers and generators cross-leveled with our other projects and contract support from our existing construction contracts. The scope of work will also be definitized by Mr. Poiroux and Carter’s Construction and handed to our contracting officer on Monday, to get the actual office repaired.”

USACE Mobile District is also sending a Mission Command Vehicle to the Panama City office that will provide them with communications capability. Repairs are expected to begin on the Panama City office scheduled by this coming Friday, Oct. 19th.
