The Boca de Cangrejos PAS study focuses on a shallow inlet located in San Juan, Puerto Rico that experiences sedimentation build-up in the navigation channel. The PAS study was requested by the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) in a letter to USACE dated June 2018. PRIDCO supports the best performing alternative options, including maintenance of the historically permitted outer and inner navigation channels; dredging the flood and ebb shoals and maintaining the existing navigation channels; dredging to create a sediment trap outside and dredging new curved channel inside; and dredging to create a sediment trap outside and maintenance of historic channel inside.
