JACKSONVILLE, Fla - Backfilling operations are being conducted as part of the Kissimmee River Restoration project. When completed, the project will restore more than 44 miles of the historic Kissimmee River, restore more than 40 square miles floodplain, and slow the flow of water into Lake Okeechobee.
