An aerial shot of Cockspur Island located near Tybee Island Beach, Georgia. The photos was captured Aug. 11, 2016 during Undersecretary of the Army Patrick Murphy's visit to the Savannah District. In April 2016, Cockspur Island underwent a much needed makeover. Fort Pulaski National Monument funded a restoration project that repaired mortar, applied protective exterior paint and remilled the lighthouse’s wooden interior structures. The project coincides with the National Park Service’s Centennial celebration this year.
