Command Sergeant Major Derrick A. Braud, South Atlantic Division

CSM Derrick A. Braud is a native of Harker Heights, Texas. He entered the U.S. Army in October of 1997. He completed Initial Entry Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Combat Engineer.

His last assignment was as an Instructor in the Department of Command Leadership at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. His previous assignments include the Command Sergeant Major, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; Command Sergeant Major 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas; Senior Engineer Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, Engineer Senior Enlisted Advisor, Task Force Engineer, and Squadron Engineer, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Operations Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant, 18th Engineer Company, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington; San Antonio Recruiting Battalion, San Antonio, Texas; Bravo Company, 5th Engineer Battalion (C)(M), Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; 43D Combat Engineer Company, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. He has deployed multiple times throughout his career supporting Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE along with two rotational deployments to the Republic of Korea.

CSM Braud’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 67, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command/ CSM Development Courses, SERE (High Risk), Airborne School, Unit Search Advisor Course, Urban Mobility Breaching Course, Counter Explosive Hazard Planner Course, and Army Recruiter School. He holds a master’s degree in Instructional Design, Development, Evaluation from Syracuse University, a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Phoenix, and a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

CSM Braud’s awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star (2OLC); Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal (1OLC); Army Commendation Medal (4OLC); Joint Service Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal (4OLC); Army Good Conduct Medal (9th Award); National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1CSS); Iraqi Campaign Medal (4CSS); Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (1CSS); Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War On Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 6); Valorous Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Citation (1OLC); Army Superior Unit Award; Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge (Track, Wheeled); and Recruiter Badge with 3 sapphire stars. He is a recipient of the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal, the Glenn E. Morrell Award, and the Order of Saint George.

CSM Braud is married to his lovely wife Kim, and they have two children.
