The old Tamiami Trail roadway was broken through on May 15 during roadway removal efforts as part of the Tamiami Trail Modifications project in Miami, Fla. The road has served as a longstanding physical barrier, preventing water from flowing into Everglades National Park. While there is still much more work to be done on the project, removal of the one-mile section of roadway will bring the project one step closer to completion.
